Internet Connection(Wired LAN)

Wired & Wireless Networks are available through the campus network. Commercial providers of WIFI(KT, SKT, LGU+ etc) are also available. With creating a “smart campus” in mind, IST SNU has replaced the IT network instruments with -cutting-edge gigabyte instruments across all 18 campus zones and in individual buildings. The backbone network between the zones uses ultrafast (40 Gbps) optical cables.

In addition, the network between the zones has been duplexed in preparation against disruptions from cable or instrument issues

Speed Quality

Supports quality with an average of 25~35Mbps for wired connections and an average of 15~25Mbps for wireless connections

Gwanak Campus ~ Interconnected with external Internet services: 16 Gbps in total (excluding Internet services for research purposes)

Fee Policy

  • Limited utilization fee at faculty and staff apartments, dormitories (Gwanak Dormitory, and those at medical and nursing schools), BK International Dormitory, etc.

* Faculty Apartment Usage Method

  • When moving in, apply for the campus computer network usage. IP addresses (static) assigned to each room are provided via email. Set the IP address on the device and then use the internet

* Dormitory Usage Method (From September 2021)

  • IP addresses are automatically assigned (DHCP). Internet usage is possible after authentication for members of the campus community: Install the authentication agent and log in with SNU_ID/Password.
  • Only devices with Windows installed can be authenticated. Linux and MacBook (MacOS) users need to apply for a fixed IP via ITSM, set it up on their device (no login required), and refer to the usage guide (click).
